To serve the Jewish community by offering pure and holistic Torah education for their children, helping each young learner personally mature into a “ChaYoL,”a Chosid, G-d fearing individual (Yirei Shomayim), and continual, lifelong Learner.
Personal maturation is different for all. An educator is to assist his student realize his own personal potential. We are merely guides in that process. Of course, we must teach children respect for authority and we must educate with certain discipline. Still, we must help our youth go through their own process of self-discovery: As King Solomon so profoundly put it: “Educate a child in his way: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
Adapting the vision presented by the Menachem Education Foundation (Dinner 5774) we explain what is a Chassid, a G-d fearing individual, and a continual lifelong learner:
A chosid strives to realize the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson-- as communicated through his voluminous, deeds, sayings, speeches and writings.
A G-d fearing individual possesses the knowledge, values and strength of conviction to make and maintain a lifelong commitment to Torah and Mitzvos.
A continual, lifelong learner is an independent and literally astute reader of Judaic Texts in their original texts, the Holy Tongue of Hebrew, Aramaic, and other languages in which Torah is communicated.
A ChaYoL also has personal and life skills necessary to lead a productive life in the world.
A ChaYoL has a refined character, showing consideration to others and extending both material and spiritual help.
A ChaYoL faces his life with a sense of joy, confidence, and personal empowerment.
